Quick trip to Cali

I took a quick trip to California to visit my dear friend Shelby and Edward who suffered a great loss in July 2009. I was very excited about seeing them, since it had been so long, plus with the turn of events that determined the fate of their lives...it was imperative that I saw them.

The Sacramento airport has changed so much since I lived there...here's a cool structure at the baggage claim.

I spent a very long time with Shelby and Ed going over the details of their loss from July. We cried, shared thoughts, cried some more, and laughed. It was so amazing watching Edward and Shelby together. They were in unison..supporting one another as they shared and recollected the memory of that day..the feelings that came with their fate. They shared pictures with me that caused me to break down. Why did this have to happen? Why?!?! I can't understand it and I'm not the one that has to live through it everyday. Everyday as memory. BUT...as I watched Shelby and Ed...maybe it had a purpose. Their relationship was solid...the support they provided one another was amazing and I was in awe. If it had been any other couple, maybe their outcome would have been different. But these two people are amazing! I am honored to be their friend and to have shared this experience with them, even if just in memory.

Baby Avalon has brought so much more to the world than just two parents together...she has reminded each and every one of us to cherish what we have and to not take anything or anyone for granted.

Thank you for inviting me into your home Shelby and Edward. I admire you beyond words for the strength and courage that the both of you share. I had an amazing visit with the both of you!

The amazing couple ~ I love you guys!

Avalon's little hands and feet ~ to be cherished forever~

I had a great visit with the Matthews too! I am so happy that Leah was there for Shelby as her support system during this trying time. I really enjoyed my visit..and I had a great time catching up at my favorite Italian restauraunt..The Old Spaghetti Factory!

Thanks ladies!
