Say it ain't so doc!

Today is Aleena had a follow up visit to the dentist.  She has been grinding her teeth at night and of course I was very concerned.  Little did we know that grinding teeth would be the least of our worries.  We thought that Aleena had ground a slight indention into one of her front teeth...nope....Dentist confirmed that it could be a combination of the two, but it certainly was a .... CAVITY! What do you mean a cavity?  She's only 3 (soon to be anyway).

The dentist said that Aleena's teeth are so close together that it is inevitable.  Even with brushing twice a day and flossing once...we need to do more.  So now Aleena has to brush in the morning, before naptime at school, and at night. We floss morning and night.  Poor baby! I cursed her with mommy's teeth! They are so big, they are all tight together!

Daddy is on restriction too since he's the dessert junkie.  He loves to share with his best friend! SHAME SHAME DADDY! No more sugary treats for little bit and that includes juices. It's either milk or water for our little one.  Poor Aleena...she looks forward to her little dessert with daddy after dinner.

I wish I could report that Aleena was a superstar at the dentist, but she was terrifed as could be! I held her down while the dentist checked her out.  She now has to go back every 2 months to get a high dose of flouride in her tooth and to get her more comfortable w/ the dentist until we can get it filled. Once every 6 months is not enough for her.   Thanks goodness we have a proactive dentist who wants to be extra cautious. I'm glad we spotted the little divot right away to prevent any major damage!

Fortunately, after Aleena stopped crying, she saw another 3 year old handle the dentist situation like a pro! NO crying..opened her mouth when told and even let the sucky thing in her mouth. Aleena was impressed and said next time she won't be scared because she'll be 3 and a big girl....  Ok Aleena...we'll see :)

At least I got some smily pics before and after.
On our way to the dentist ...before she knew what she was getting into..LOL!
Hanging out waiting to be called in.

Look mommy! I got a balloon!

She has a beautiful smile
....we want to make sure it stays that way!
