Potty Training Day 1

Aaahh vacation....what better way to spend your vacation with your daughter than by....POTTY TRAINING!

Don't ask me how I came up with this genius idea. I would rather be taking Aleena to a park or indoor play yard, or visiting with friends and shopping than hovering next to a toilet waiting for my daughter to snap to the idea that it's a lot easier to use the potty than to walk around with an icky diaper.

So here starts the challenge.....

I printed out a sticker chart to start the motivation process. She was so proud of it!

We taped a chart to every bathroom in the house.

Notice it has a slot for pulling pants down, sitting on the potty, pooping/peeing, and washing hands.

We made several attempts and dry runs throughout the morning, fortunately with no mishaps on the floor. Aleena was taken to the potty every 15 minutes to make sure we didn't miss an opportunity. Finally around 11:00am, we had a SUCCESS!!!!.....After her tinkle...we got to put her stickers on the chart.

Notice the dry runs...she did everything but the main event..pulled pants down, sat on potty, and washed hands...this time, she got to fill in the pee in potty star! She was so happy~and so was mommy! We did a potty dance and then she got to select her treat.
She wanted a ring pop! I'm so proud of my baby!
We had an accident on the floor because mommy missed her 15 minute mark, and then she had a diaper during her nap. She had another successful potty that evening.
I must say, it was exhausting to keep up the charade. I did everything to keep her interest in the potty...we blew bubbles, colored, sang songs, played patty cake...EVERYTHING! We made up a potty song that follows the sound of "I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee" song. This is one of Aleena's favorite songs, so it really worked. Instead of the bumble bee song, we sang "Aleena's (I'm) going pee pee in the potty...Won't my mommy be so proud of me.. Aleena's going pee pee in the potty...Oh I tinkled." She loved it! The song seemed to trigger and help her focus.
Here is the final chart of her day 1!
I was so exhausted by the time the night was done, I was happy to have the day overwith. But, I claim today a success!
